Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 31, 2026

New Harmony Church (“NHC,” “we,” “us”) runs nharmony.org. This policy explains what information the site collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run the site and serve our church family and visitors. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Information we collect

  • Contact and staff forms: the details you enter, such as your name, email address, subject and message.
  • Announcement requests: the name, contact details and announcement information submitted through the announcement request form.
  • Reader accounts (Chronological Companion reading plan): your email address, an optional name, and your reading progress and journal entries. Accounts are optional.
  • Comments: the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, which an automated spam filter may check.
  • Server and security logs: standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and sign-in attempts, collected by our hosting provider and our security software.

This site does not currently run an analytics or advertising tracking service. If that changes, we will update this policy.

How we use information

  • To respond to your messages and route them to the right staff member
  • To review and schedule announcement requests
  • To operate the site and the reading plan, including syncing your progress across devices when you are signed in
  • To send passwordless sign-in links when you request them
  • To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse

Forms, email and spam protection

Form submissions are saved in the site’s database so staff can follow up, and a copy is emailed to the relevant staff member through our church email service (Zoho Mail). To block automated spam, our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser and connection to confirm you are a person. Cloudflare handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Reader accounts and journal

  • Sign-in uses one-time email links that expire within an hour. There are no passwords to remember.
  • Journal entries are private and are not shared with other readers.
  • You can download your journal from the plan page and clear data stored in your browser at any time.
  • You can ask us to export or erase your account data.

Cookies and embedded content

WordPress sets functional cookies, for example to keep you signed in. We do not set advertising cookies. Reading progress and journal data may be stored in your browser’s local storage. Some pages include content from other services, which may set their own cookies or receive your IP address when the content loads:

  • YouTube, for sermon and livestream videos
  • Google Maps, for the map and directions on our Contact and Find Us sections
  • RefTagger (Logos), which turns Scripture references into pop-up verses
  • Links to Planning Center for giving, groups and Church Center, and to ESV.org for Scripture text

These services are governed by their own privacy policies.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site, or when the law requires it. These include Hostinger (website hosting), Cloudflare (DNS and spam protection), Zoho (email delivery), and Planning Center when you use its giving or groups links. Some of these providers operate in or store data in the United States and other countries, under standard contractual terms or equivalent safeguards.

How long we keep information

  • Form submissions and announcement requests are kept as long as needed to follow up, then deleted on request or during periodic cleanup.
  • Comments are kept until they are removed.
  • Account and journal data are kept until the account is deleted.
  • Server and security logs follow our host’s standard retention periods.

Security

Sign-in links are single-use, time-limited and stored in hashed form. The site is protected by a firewall, login protection and regular backups. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

You may ask us to give you access to the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, export it, or limit how we use it, and you may withdraw consent where we rely on it. Readers in the UK and EU have rights under the GDPR, including the right to complain to their local data-protection authority, and California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To make a request, use the contact details below.

Children

This site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it last changed, and we will note any significant changes on this page.
